A Personal, Portable Summary: for Us and the Person We Support (Online)
Create a simple summary with the consent of the person you support that can be used for health appointments. 1-hour, free information session for mental health carers. Do you have to repeat the same details about the person you support every time you meet a new clinician or service provider? A personal and portable summary can make your life easier. In this free session, you'll learn how to create a simple, adaptable document to keep track of important information—like medical history, medications, key contacts and support needs—so you don’t have to start from scratch every time. Consent is a critical part of this prior to sharing. You’ll walk away with: a ready-to-use portable summary template tips on what to include and how to keep it updated a practical tool to reduce stress and ensure accurate information is shared. Join us to learn how to make appointments and assessments a little easier. This information session is designed specifically for family members, kin, young carers, friends and other individuals who support someone experiencing mental ill-health. Instead of the regular Caloundra Carer support group on this day, we'll be holding the Support the Family/Carer Improve the Outcome event on the Sunshine Coast.
Future Planning Workshop
In this session of Arafmi’s Future Planning Workshops, we will have representatives from Independent Patient Rights Advisers (IPRA) and Basic Rights Queensland (BRQ). IPRA will speak on topics to aide you in navigating your rights and the rights of the people you support under the Mental Health act. BRQ will speak about helping you navigate Centrelink, the various forms and documents you may need as well as carer payments, discrimination and employment. After this workshop, we will be preparing an online version for those unable to attend the in person event. Keep an eye out for this invitation in your inbox later in the month. Morning Tea and Lunch will be provided. The venue is fully accessible. Onsite parking is free, on a first in first served basis.

Out and About with Arafmi – Daisy Hill Koala Centre
Join us for a morning of marsupials and mother nature! Meet up with us, and make new friends at the Daisy Hill Koala Centre.A Morning at Daisy Hill Koala CentreJoin fellow carers for a relaxing morning surrounded by nature at the beautiful Daisy Hill Koala Centre. Nestled within tranquil bushland, the Centre is bordered by scenic picnic grounds and accessible walking trails that weave through the Conservation Park.We’ll begin with a gentle stroll along the Paperbark Trail; a peaceful, wheelchair-accessible walk among towering paperbark trees, before enjoying morning tea together under the picnic shelters, where wallabies and kookaburras are often spotted nearby.Afterwards, we’ll explore the Koala Centre and hear from a park ranger during a 20-minute presentation all about our iconic local native koalas.📍 Where: Daisy Hill Koala Centre,253 Daisy Hill Rd, Daisy Hill QLD 4127🗓️ When: Friday 21 November, 9:30am - 11:30am🚗 Parking: We recommend parking in car park 2 (Nearest to where we will have morning tea)
