Caring for a spouse or partner with a mental health illness is a different experience to caring for an adult child or other family member or friend. This support group has been created in response to feedback our carers and will be an online space where carers can connect and support each other.

Cairns Carer Support Group
2nd Tuesday of the month, 1:30pm – 3:30pm. Our Cairns Carer Support Groups offers a supportive environment where people have the opportunity to talk about their feelings, help explore alternative ways of coping, offer support to other group members, or to simply listen and observe. Support groups are also a valuable means of informing carers of Arafmi services and resources that are available to assist their caring role.

The aim of this study is to work with family, friends, carers, and supporters of people with mental health challenges, mental illness or psychological distress to understand their experiences especially in relation to the impact of COVID-19 on their caring responsibilities, unmet needs and levels of distress.

Borderline Personality Disorder Family Connections – 12 Week Program
Borderline Personality Disorder Family Connections - 12 Week Program is a free, 12-week course that meets weekly for two hours to provide education, skills training, and support for people who are in a relationship with someone who has Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD).
Connecting with community support
Connecting with community for you and your family workshop identifies what supports and connections carers need at different points and have the opportunity to learn about community supports, resources and funding that could be beneficial now and in the future for themselves and other family members.
