What is forest bathing?
A mindful way to support your health and wellbeing, connect with nature, and wash away the stresses of the modern world — no water necessary! Inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku, it involves slowing down, and immersing yourself in nature in a conscious and contemplative way. It is about being, rather than doing.
What to expect
After a brief introduction, your certified guide will help you to slow down, and wake up your senses. A series of open-ended invitations will be offered to help you engage in the space in a sensory way, followed by an opportunity for you to share what you are noticing.
What to wear
Wear something you feel comfortable in – it does not need to be hiking/active wear. We do not go far, and we do not go fast; you can expect to walk around 1km across the 45-minute session. Heartwood suggests bringing a bottle of water and a hat.
What are the benefits?
Forest Bathing is an evidence-based practice with benefits for physical, mental and emotional health. It supports a feeling of presence, and can also help you cultivate deeper connections with nature, other people, and yourself.
