Do you support someone with mental health needs? Are you interested in connecting with other carers and learning new skills? You are invited to join our Carer Coach Sue Hopkins for a series of 9 online workshops designed to assist carers. The workshops will: Assist you to build practical skills for navigating the caring role Support you to learn strategies to for your own wellbeing Connect you with other carers who “get it” Provide access local support options and resources Offer tools and insights to help lighten the load and strengthen your confidence Each week a different topic will be covered including: Understanding the Carer Journey What makes for good support Understanding Inclusion and Advocacy Planning Ahead for Yourself Post Crisis and more…. These supportive workshops will give you time to reflect on your caring role and build strategies to allow you to care more sustainably for the person you support and look after you. Learn tips to make conversations easier and strengthen your relationship.A 2–hour, free workshop for mental health carers.Ever find it hard to connect with the person you care for? Knowing what to say—or how to say it—can feel difficult at times. This workshop will give you simple, effective tools to improve communication and build a stronger relationship.You’ll learn about the L.E.A.P. method—Listen, Empathise, Agree, Partner—to help you connect in a positive way to reduce conflict. Developed by Dr. Xavier Amador, after his brother’s struggles with Schizophrenia and refusal of treatment, this method is a game changer (watch his TED talk “I’m Not Sick, I Don’t Need Help!”– https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXxytf6kfPM)Join us to boost your confidence, gain practical skills and improve your relationship with the person you care for.This session is designed specifically for family members, kin, young carers, friends and other individuals who support someone experiencing mental ill-health. Enjoy a stroll and morning tea in the City Botanic Gardens, then it's time for crafts in the shade.You're invited - stroll and craft in the Botanic gardensFor anyone providing unpaid emotional or practical care to family or friends experiencing mental health challenges, Out and About is a free monthly event where you can step away from everyday demands, take a breath, and focus on your own wellbeing in a supportive and welcoming environment.Join us for a relaxing stroll through the City Botanic Gardens, taking in the peaceful surroundings. We’ll then gather for morning tea and a chance to connect with others.
