New to caring or been in a caring role for years? This workshop offers practical tools and system know-how to help make things easier.2–hour, free workshop for mental health carers.Every caring journey is different. Maybe you stepped into this role suddenly, or maybe it changed over time. Things might feel stable right now, or you could be facing new challenges. Wherever you are in your journey, this workshop will give you practical tools to make things easier.You’ll walk away with:a clear understanding of how the carer role changes over timeunderstanding the lingoa portable summary–details and information about you and your person to keep handysafety and emergency plana stay-well committee for the carerinformation, resources and supports.Join us to feel more confident, prepared and supported—no matter where you’re at in your caring role.This session is designed specifically for family members, kin, young carers, friends and other individuals who support someone experiencing mental ill-health. Workshop: The Caregivers Journey This workshop will explore the caregiver’s journey, and offer an opportunity to discuss caregiver experiences, discover practical strategies and resources and connect with others with similar experiences. When: 1:00pm–3:00pm, Tuesday 7 April 2026 In this group, you will: • Share your caring experiences • Connect with other caregivers with similar experiences. • Learn practical self-care and self-compassion strategies and explore the services available to support you.

This series is designed to equip carers with skills to help them in their caring journey. This session will focus on IPRAJoin us for an informative session with Independent Patient Rights Adviser (I.P.R.A.) to hear about how they play an important role in liaisng with clinical teams, paitents and support persons and ensuring patients are advised of their rights and responsibilities under the Mental Health Act 2016. Join Arafmi and IPRA colleagues in Cairns for a focussed session on how the IPRA teams across Queensland can support you as a mental health carer.
