Caring for a Spouse or Partner Support Group (Online)
Caring for a spouse or partner with a mental health illness is a different experience to caring for an adult child or other family member or friend. This support group has been created in response to feedback our carers and will be an online space where carers can connect and support each other.
Caloundra Carer Support Group
Our Caloundra Carer Support Group offers a supportive environment where people have the opportunity to talk about their feelings, help explore alternative ways of coping, offer support to other group members, or to simply listen and observe. Support groups are also a valuable means of informing carers of Arafmi services and resources that are available to assist their caring role.
Carers of Youth (Online)
Arafmi Carers of Youth (Online) Support Group is for families caring for youth experiencing mental health illness.
This support group provides peer support to people who care for their loved ones experiencing mental illness.
Toowoomba Carer Support Group
Third Wednesday of each month 10am – 12noon. Our Toowoomba Carer Support Group offers a supportive environment where people have the opportunity to talk about their feelings, help explore alternative ways of coping, offer support to other group members, or to simply listen and observe. Support groups are also a valuable means of informing carers of Arafmi services and resources that are available to assist their caring role.
Communication Skills Workshop (face-to-face)
The Communication Skills Workshop provides mental health carers with an opportunity to increase their awareness of how people communicate and what skills are needed at different times. It also discusses what skills are needed with different relationships eg with the person you care for, other family members, clinicians. A range of communication strategies will be explored to build carer's confidence and skills which will assist them to improve relationships now and in the future. Borderline Personality Disorder Family Connections – 12 Week Program
Borderline Personality Disorder Family Connections - 12 Week Program is a free, 12-week course that meets weekly for two hours to provide education, skills training, and support for people who are in a relationship with someone who has Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD).
Practical Tools for Carers
Practical Tools for Carers workshop provides carers with practical resources and information to assist people at different points in their caring journey. This includes understanding mental health supports, terminology, tips for communicating with clinicians, developing a stay well committee and knowing where to go for information and supports. Borderline Personality Disorder Support Group (Online)
Caring for a loved one with a Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) can bring with it some unique challenges. This support group has been created specifically to support the carers of those with a BPD and is a result of recent feedback from our carers.

Developing a Portable Summary (Online)
In this session 'Developing a Portable Summary' you will be provided with a template to use to collate relevant details that can be needed by clinicians, service providers and yourself. Recording information centrally can save retelling information over and over and ensure accurate details about a persons history, needs and supports are maintained.
