Culture Care

Culture Care is a free program for mental health carers from multicultural backgrounds living in Queensland. Many carers from these communities find it hard to access services and information. This can affect their wellbeing.

Culture Care workers can help. They listen and give support by phone or face-to-face (Brisbane area). Our team works with multicultural peer support workers and interpreters so we can offer language, cultural and Lived Experience support. Culture Care also has group programs and support groups for social connection, education and to find out more about available services.

How can Culture Care help you?

If you look after someone in your family or community who often feels worried, stressed or sad, you may be a carer.

We can help you with:

  • your stress and worries
  • finding support, services and information
  • feeling less alone – connect you with others who understand what you are going through.

Culture Care offers two support groups to support its Mental health CALD Carers in the community — one located on the Northside (Everton Park) of Brisbane and the other on the Southside (Upper Mount Gravatt).

These groups provide a safe and welcoming environment where participants can:

  • share personal experiences
  • explore alternative coping strategies
  • learn simple, practical tools to enhance wellbeing
  • offer mutual support to fellow group members
  • or simply listen and reflect.

Support groups also serve as a valuable opportunity to connect Carers with services and resources offered by Arafmi and the World Wellness Group (WWG), designed to assist them in their caring roles.
