From Consulted to Heard
Designed primarily for carers with years of experience who want their knowledge to shape more than one appointment.
Long-term carers often recognise recurring gaps, but services and decision-makers need those patterns expressed in a form they can act on. In this practical workshop, participants will practise four moves: identify the pattern, find who has authority to respond, frame a realistic ask and choose the next step. They will leave with a method for turning what they have learned through caring into influence on services, programs or policy.
About Michael
Michael Elwan is a Perth-based Accredited Social Worker and Founder and Director of Lived Experience Solutions (LEXs). He brings more than two decades of experience as a mental health carer, alongside senior leadership in statewide mental health services. Michael has delivered national professional development through the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and worked as a community educator with WA Recovery College, alongside presentations through specialist mental health training providers and at other national webinars and conferences. His work focuses on practical ways for carers’ knowledge to be heard in services and decision-making.
