During this session, Irene shared two new services that Arafmi is currently developing.
The first is a carer support technology library. We’ve been very lucky to be supported by the Mental Health Alcohol & Other Drugs Branch to fund this initiative. We have been provided with funding to purchase tablets and data which we can then share with carers in rural, regional and remote areas. This will allow these carers to join in with our online group supports. The funding will run until the end of June 2021 with the intention of it being self-funded following that project.
The second program is called Carer Map. We know there is a gap in services for people who have newly become carers of loved ones who have become unwell. Carers can find it difficult to source places like the Carer Gateway or other one-on-one supports. We would work with carers to help tease out what they need for services and help find those services so that they’re not alone in the process of trying to find access supports.
